Forever, Always, and Then SomeChapter Twenty
Almost four weeks have past since the wedding. Late one afternoon Angel comes down the stairs. Cordy and Fred are standing behind the counter looking at pictures. Angel casually picks up the empty envelope. Angel: Hey! This was addressed to me. Cordy: Yes, but you were asleep. Angel: And so you just helped yourself. Cordy: I knew it was new pictures, Angel: Humph! No note? Cordy: Uh yeah somewhere. She looks and finds it on the floor. Angel snatches it and walks over to the couch. He quickly reads it. The he smells it. Fred has been watching him. Fred: OOO Does it smell like some expensive perfume? Angel: No baby lotion. Fred: Huh? Angel hands her the note and she smells it. Fred: It sure does, it smells like Liam. Cordy hands Angel the pictures. He looks through them and walks into the office. Angel: Wesley, anything I need to know about? Anything going on? Wes: Are you asking if there is work: Angel: Well yes. Wes: Well no. Angel: Than I guess you guys can spare me for say 24 hours. Wes: Huh? What? Angel: Thought I might make a small trip. Cordy: To Sunnydale perhaps? Angel: Where else? Cordy: Gunn looks like you won. Everyone starts handing Gunn money. Angel: What are you doing? Fred: We had a pool on how long before you went back to Sunnydale. Angel: You are not serious. Fred: Yeah, Cordy said one week. Cordy: That was before I knew of the twice weekly photo deliveries. Fred went for two weeks. Gunn the big winner said you would last 4 weeks. Angel: And Wesley? Gunn: Oh he actually thought you would last two months. Angel: So glad that my life causes you guys such amusement. A few hours later Angel comes down ready to leave. As he turns toward the door, Cordy yells out with a vision. Angel: Looks like my trip just got postponed. Cordy sent them to help a couple being attacked. After the rescue the young couple, they realize the man has badly sprained his ankle. They take him to the hospital. Angel Investigations learn that they had just arrived in LA for their honeymoon. They lost all their luggage and everything when they were attacked. Angel decides to take them (Lesley and Bill) back to the hotel. Fred and Angel lend the couple something to wear and they stay at the hotel for the night. The next morning, Angel and Wesley are going over the reports of similar attacks as the couple trying to find out if they may have a bigger problem. Lesley helps Bill down the stairs and helps him get settled on the couch. Bill gets his new bride to sit in his lap and the start kissing. Suddenly from the doorway is a scream: Oh my god No! Lesley and Bill look behind them toward the door. Angel runs out of the office. Angel: What’s wrong? Lesley: I don’t know. Some girl was here and she screamed and ran back out the door. Angel: A girl? What she look like? Bill: Blonde and I think she was holding a baby. Angel: What? ( he runs for the door but is stopped by the sunlight but he can see to the street) Stop her somebody stop her. Lesley jumps up and runs out to do it. Lesley: Stop miss, please stop. Come back inside. Buffy: Get away from me. Stay away from me. I can’t deal with this. Oh god Lesley: Don’t run, come back inside. Get the baby and come back inside. They can help you here. Buffy looks through the windows and sees Angel signaling her to come back inside. She turns back to strapping Liam in his car seat. Lesley: Please miss just come back inside. Angel: Wesley where is a blanket. I need to get outside. Wesley: What is it? Angel: Buffy is outside and she is upset at something. I Wesley: Let me go talk to her. Stay here. Wesley goes outside. Wes: Buffy, are you okay? Buffy: Wesley, leave me alone I am getting out of here. Wesley: Buffy what is wrong? Did something happen? Is the baby okay? Buffy: Oh Wesley how could he do it? How could he? Wesley: Liam? Do what? Buffy: Angel. How could he? I saw him, how could he? Wesley: I am not sure what Angel did but maybe you should ask him about it. He is ready to become a human torch if you do not come back inside. Buffy please, if there is a problem, you need to talk to Angel. Come inside. Buffy: I can’t talk to him right now but I am too upset to drive either. Please get Liam. I will come in but I am not talking to Angel. Wes: Okay fine, we can go in my office. Wesley gets Liam and he and Buffy walk back into the building.. Angel walks toward her. Wes: Angel, not now. Wait. He leads Buffy into the office. Buffy: Wesley how could he? I wanted to surprise him. Looks like I am the one who got surprised. Wesley: Buffy I have no idea what you are talking about. I know you are upset and you are upsetting the baby. Can I give him to his father? Buffy: Fine, just keep that girl away from my son. Wesley: Girl? Do you mean Lesley? She is a client. She won’t hurt anyone. Buffy: Not near my son. Wesley: Fine Wesley carries Liam to Angel. Wes: Here, I have no idea what you did or she thinks you did but she is very upset. And I think it somehow has to do with Lesley. She wants her no where near the baby. Angel: I didn’t do anything….I was with you in the office. Wesley: Just let me calm her down and I maybe I can find out what happened. Wesley returns to the office. Lesley: Angel, who is that girl? Angel: My wife Lesley: And I guess that would be your baby? Angel: Uh Huh……what happened….does anyone have an idea? Bill: All I know is one moment Lesley and I were sitting here kissing and the next we were being screamed at. We didn’t even see her until she was headed back out the door. Angel: And you saw no one else? Bill: No on. Back in the office. Wesley: Buffy, please tell me what happened. What did Angel do? Buffy: I thought he loved me. I knew about Darla, but I thought that was just a one time thing. I thought he loved me. I thought I was all he wanted. But now to see him….oh god I can’t say it……this isn’t happening.. Wesley: I am not sure what you think you saw………all I know is Angel and I were in here going over crime reports on a case and we heard you scream. Buffy: Crime reports? He was not going over any damn crime reports unless they were hidden on her body somewhere. Wesley: Buffy here are the reports right on the desk………now what are you talking about. Buffy: Wesley I saw him, I walked right in the lobby and there he was with some girl in his lap and he was not saving her from some unspeakable demon. Wesley: You saw Angel with some girl? With Lesley? Buffy: Yes, how could he. Wesley: He couldn’t. He didn’t. I think who you saw was Bill. Buffy: Bill? Who is Bill? Wesley: Lesley’s husband. Brown hair, sprained ankle, sitting out on the sofa…..ah wearing Angel’s clothes. Buffy: What are you talking about? Wesley: Buffy wait here, I think you need to talk to Angel. Wesley goes into the lobby. Wesley: I think I know what happened. Angel: Wanna fill me in. Wesley: Bill, were you and Lesley making out in here? Bill: Yes but I did not know we had a audience. It is our honeymoon. Wesley: Well with you sitting there wearing Angel’s very unique wardrobe and you back toward the door, I think one very tired new mother jumped to some very wrong conclusions. Angel I think you need to talk to your wife. Buffy: No he doesn’t. I need to do the talking. I think I owe everyone a big apology. Especially Lesley. After four weeks all I was thinking about was Angel and when I saw them I went nuts. I hope everybody can forgive me. Angel: Forgive what? Lesley: Yeah what? Bill you know what she is talking about? Bill: No I am just sitting here wondering when my ankle will quit throbbing. Buffy: Thanks guys. Angel: Will everyone excuse us…..I have not seen my family in weeks. Buffy and Angel head upstairs. Over at Wolfram and Hart Gavin walks into Lila’s office. Gavin: Guess what. The wife just showed up. Lila: At the Hotel? Gavin: Yep and something went down, she walked in and came back out in panic. She was upset, we couldn’t here much but they did finally get her back inside. Lila: What do you think happened? Gavin: I don’t know but something sure set her off. Have you had any success with the Druscilla? Lila: She has been all over Europe, but has not found Darla. Do you think we need to bring her here? I just can’t see Darla sticking around here if she is not with him. Gavin: After that little scene at the hotel, I am thinking she might be. Lila: But we would have seen something by now. I still think Darla left the country. Gavin: We better do something soon, the senior partners are getting restless and I do not want to be their next sacrifice. Lila: I will get Druscilla here. |
