Forever, Always, and Then Some

Chapter 86

Part 86

As they sit listening to the band, Angelica walks by with another guy.

Willow: Angel, looks like your new girlfriend found someone else.

Buffy: Yes, but this one doesn’t have a soul.

Angel: I got that too.

Willow: Well they just went out the door.

Buffy: Well hone, even loonies don’t deserve to die.

Angel: I can handle it.

Buffy: You are not rescuing her alone. No knight in shining armor routines. Lets go.

Angel follows her. As they turn into the alley they discover the vampire about to kill Angelica.

Buffy: When will you guys learn?

Vampire: Slayer.

Buffy: That’s me.

Vampire: I heard you were no longer working.

Buffy: Don’t believe everything you hear.

Vampire comes at her, she leaps aside and Angel steps from the shadows and quickly stakes him. But, before they can leave a second vampire appears behind Buffy.

Angel: Watch out.

Buffy turns and kicks him in the head. Angel steps in and the vampire is also dusted. Angel gives Buffy a look of disapproval.

Buffy: What was I suppose to do?

Angel: Stay inside would have been nice.

Angelica: What just happened?

Buffy: We saved your life. You should be more careful who you hang out with. Angel, let’s get back before Willow gets worried.

They head back in. Angelica looks around and then chases after them. They enter the Bronze.

Buffy: You can go now. You are safe. Just stay out of alleys.

Angelica: But what was that?

Buffy: Just say he was a valuable lesson. Now go away.

Buffy heads to table with Angel holding back watching her walk. Buffy looks over her shoulder.

Buffy: Nice view?

Angel: Always.

At the house.

Dawn has put Conner to bed and is coming down the stairs. She peers out the front window. She sees a movement behind a tree. She cracks the door open.

Dawn: Spike?

Spike steps out.

Dawn: It is you.

Spike: I’m not here to hurt anyone. I just wanted to make sure everyone is okay.

Dawn: We are fine. Willow is okay.

Spike: Good.

Dawn: You can come in.

Spike: No, I think I better get back on patrol. Don’t want to disturb them.

Dawn: Everyone is a the Bronze. I am baby-sitting.

Spike: Oh. Buffy and Willow went out?

Dawn: Yeah, with Angel and Oz. Oz is playing with some band.

Spike: Oz? I thought he left for good.

Dawn: Uh, he is living in LA.

Spike: Well I better get going.

Dawn: Wait.

Spike: What?

Dawn: I just well, I just want to apologize.

Spike: Apologize? For what Little Bit.

Dawn: The spell. I should never have done that to you.

Spike: What spell?

Dawn: Uh the love spell. The one that made you go after Willow.

Spike: What? Hell, it was a bloody spell. I thought I had lost my fricken mind. Now it all makes sense. But hey, why did you do that?

Dawn: Uh, not important.

Spike: Why would you want me to love Willow?

Dawn: You weren’t suppose to love Willow.

Spike: If not Willow, than…..oh, Little Bit. Why would you want to do that?

Dawn: Because I love you and you can’t even see it.

She shuts the door and locks it. Spike stares at the door before walking off on patrol.

Spike: I didn‘t see that one.

After dropping the ladies at home, Oz and Angel head to LA. As they drive through the city streets, Angel’s cell phone rings.

Angel: Hello.

Fred: Uh where exactly are you?

Angel: About fifteen minutes from the hotel.

Fred: Cordy had a vision. Wes and Guun are already headed to that boat warehouse on the waterfront. She saw that friend of Buffy’s from the party being attacked by some sort of demon.

Angel: Okay, we will head there.

Hang up.

Angel: Detour. Need to go to the waterfront.

Oz: Okay.

Angel: Do you have anything to use as a weapon?

Oz: Just a tire iron.

Angel: Lets hope Wes and Gunn brought extras.

They pull up near the warehouse.

Angel: There is my car. Pull up there.

Oz: Angel open the glove box.

Angel looks in and takes out a small pistol.

Angel: Not the kind of weapon we need.

Oz: It’s a tranquillizer gun. I can control under normal conditions but if I get pushed I may change and then I can’t always get back.

Angel: Got it. I can relate.

He pockets the pistol. They park the van. Angel walks over and grabs two axes from the trunk. Hands one to Oz. They enter the warehouse. Wesley, Gunn and Pike are in battle with a demon covered in spiky tentacles and a gaping mouth in its abdomen. They have succeeded in not getting killed but have had little success in harming the demon. Angel jumps in and greatly improves the odds. The five men fight the demon. When Wesley gets knocked to the ground, Oz who is closest moves in to deflect the tentacles while he crawls to safety. Before Oz can back away, he is grabbed and pulled toward the demon’s mouth. Oz swings his ax and it sinks into the abdomen. He demon roars as it attempts to force Oz into its mouth. The others attack rapidly. Angel moves in toward the mouth. Oz grabs at the tentacle trying to release himself. His feet gain leverage against the demon’s feet. As he struggles to free himself, he allows the more powerful werewolf to emerge. With his claws, teeth and enhanced strength he is finally able to disengage from the tentacle and knocks the demon on its back. The advantage is now gained and the others are able to kill it.

As they look at the now dead demon, the werewolf lunges for Gunn. Angel pulls out the pistol and takes him down. Gunn looks down.

Gunn: Okay, so you were prepared for this I see.

Angel: Oz was, he gave me the pistol. He will be okay in a couple of hours.

Pike: I don’t know how you guys knew but thanks.

Wesley: Cordy had a vision.

Pike: Oh, that is handy.

Angel picks up Oz and carries him to the van. He gets the keys.

Angel: See you at the hotel.

At the hotel.

Angel walks in with Oz slung over his shoulder.

Cordy: Is that Oz?

Angel: Uh huh. I am going to put him in his bed till the tranquillizer wears off.

Fred: Uh, okay.

Gunn and Wes walk in.

Cordy: Well since everyone is okay, I am heading home.

Gunn: I need to finish here first.

Cordy: Come by whenever you are done.

Gunn: Count on it.

Fred: Well I am heading to bed myself.

Cordy: Night all.

Angel comes down as Fred goes up.

At Cordy’s apartment.

She is getting ready for bed. Denis folds down the covers.

Cordy: Denis, you are a godsend. But, I need advice.

Denis hands Cordy her hairbrush.

Cordy: You like Gunn. I know you do. Well, I think we need to go farther. I want more. Well what I am trying to say is, I was thinking about asking him to move in. What do you think?

Denis opens a dresser drawer and removes the clothes and sets them on the bed. Cordy watches as he opens the closet door and pushes her clothes to one side.

Cordy: Making him room. I take that as I should go for it.

She picks up the clothes off the bed and places them in another drawer.

Cordy: A little more crowded but I like it.

She finishes rearranging things.

Cordy: Watch him say no.

Denis brings her a bottle of wine and two glasses. She set them on the nightstand. There is a knock at the door.

Cordy: Wish me luck.

She answers the door. Gunn swoops her into his arms and kisses her.

Cordy: Glad to see me I see.

Gunn: Always. I see you’re dressed for bed.

Cordy: Since when do I wear clothes in bed.

Gunn: Well, usually for the first two minutes or so.

They scurry to the bedroom.

Gunn: Wine? Nice.

Later as they lay in bed.

Cordy: Charles, I want to ask you something.

Charles: Go ahead, but you know I will say yes. I always do.

Cordy: Well this is big, real big.

Gunn: Go on.

Cordy: I want you to move in here. In here with me. Well and with Denis.

Gunn: Live together.

Cordy: Well yeah, unless you are attached to your place too much.

Gunn: Not likely. But is there room for me?

Denis opens the empty drawer and then the closet.

Gunn: Denis, I told you stay out when we are in bed.

Cordy: We are not doing anything right now. Plus Denis wants to show you we already made room for your clothes.

Gunn: I see. So Denis approves. I guess I am moving in.

He starts to get up.

Cordy: Where are you going?

Gunn: To get my stuff.

Cordy: Now?

Gunn: No time like the present. By morning, I will have a new home.

Cordy smiles.

The next day in Sunnydale.

There is a knock at the door. Buffy answers it.

Buffy: Hello.

Gwen: Hello. Is this the Summer’s residence?

Buffy: Yes.

Gwen: Well I am Gwen.

Buffy: Gwen?

Gwen: Tara’s roommate.

Buffy: Of course. I just didn‘t place the name. Come on in.

Gwen: Actually I don’t have a lot of time. I need to get to the studio. I just was hoping you could help me.

Buffy: I’ll try.

Gwen: Well since Tara won’t well be coming back, I well need to find another roommate to move in. and well I need to get Tara’s stuff moved out. I am not sure what to do with it.

Buffy: Oh, I never thought about her stuff. I guess we can come by and get it out and then decide what to do with it.

Gwen: Would you please. I have a potential roommate coming by tonight. I really don’t want to have to explain her clothes and all.

Buffy: I understand. I will see if my sister and I can come by this afternoon.

Gwen: That would be great. Anytime after 12 is good.

Buffy: Okay.

Gwen: Well I need to run. I have a photo shoot in 15 minutes.

Buffy: Are you a model?

Gwen: What? Heck no, I am a photographer. Well a photographer in training. I am majoring in it at UC Sunnydale.

Buffy: Sounds interesting.

Gwen: It is. I love it. Well gotta run.

Buffy: See you this afternoon.

She closes the door.

Willow: I heard.

Buffy: Well Dawn and I will go get her stuff. Then you can decide what to do.

Willow: I guess. It just feels strange.

That afternoon.

Buffy and Dawn arrive home with Tara’s stuff.

Dawn: She didn’t really have a lot did she?

Buffy: I guess not.

Willow: Well I guess we can go through the clothes and take them to goodwill. The magic supplies can go in the trunk with my stuff.

Buffy: That is just about everything except for her personal papers and a few knock knacks and pictures. Oh you should see this on photo. Gwen took it and Tara looks amazing, Gwen said it was suppose to be a gift for you.

She hands Willow the framed photo.

Willow: She looks awesome. And it was for me?

Dawn: That is what Gwen said.

Buffy: Gwen is very good, but then Tara was a great subject.

Dawn: Think she will do as well with you?

Buffy: One can only hope.

Willow: You are going to get your picture done? Let me guess, for Angel?

Buffy: Thought it might give him something to look at. She said she could do something sensual plus something with me and Conner more appropriate for his office.

Willow: When?

Buffy: As soon as she can get the studio. Told her about the baby and how if it was not soon it might be too late.

Dawn: Angel would love it even if you were nine months along.

Buffy: But I wouldn’t.

Willow: Buffy, I hate to say this, but you may want to see if you can fit any of Tara’s pants, seeing you are outgrowing your own.

Buffy: That is too weird.

Willow: Okay, then, We can drive over to Mommy-to-Be whenever you are ready.

Buffy: That will come soon enough. Don’t rush me.

Willow: Then what do you plan on wearing until you accept the fact you are pregnant and with that comes weight gain.

Buffy: Fine, you look and put aside any thing I can use. I need to lie down.

Willow: I see Angel has done his job. You are taking better care of yourself.

Buffy: I am trying. Plus I am seriously tired.

Dawn: Oh since you carried the boxes to and from the van.

Buffy: I helped. I drove and I packed.

Dawn: And I toted. I hope this is your last baby.

Buffy: Will be for quite a while. Two is plenty.

Monday.

Buffy arrives at the studio with Willow, Conner and Dawn.

Gwen: I am not real experienced with young babies, but I assume we need him to be in a good mood. So should we do him first.

Buffy: I think so. Then he can nap while we do the others. I am nervous.

Gwen: Don’t be, you are a beautiful subject.

Buffy: You are stroking my ego. That helps.

Gwen. Okay so lets do the Mommy and me shots first.

Later after she has shot Buffy with Conner, Gwen and Dawn help Buffy to fix her hair and makeup.

Gwen: Now you told me about a teddy. Did you decide if that is what you wanted to use?

Buffy: I guess, I brought it. My husband picked it out, so I know he likes it but I am not sure if it is too daring.

Gwen: I don’t think so. Go change and I will see.

Later.

Buffy: My god that was actually fun.

Dawn: Buffy, those are going to be wonderful. Angel is going to have a fit.

Buffy: Gwen, thanks.

Gwen: No, thank you. I need the experience. And after working with Conner, I am going to be more agreeable to kid assignments. Now I will come by Wednesday with the proofs. You said your husband would be in Saturday, right?

Buffy: Yes.

Gwen: Then I will make sure they are ready by then.

Buffy: Thanks again. Well I guess I am taking this crew back home. See you Wednesday.
