Forever, Always, and Then SomeChapter 57
Angel: What did you see? Buffy: Vampires. Angel: Okay, I got that much. Buffy: Sorry, I am still processing. I only recognized three faces. You were right Dru is here. Harmony too. And Riley. Angel: Riley is with them? Is he? Buffy: A vampire? Not yet, I don’t think. They appear to be leading in humans to either be eaten or turned. We are good but we are not that good. We need help. Buffy grabs her cell phone. Buffy: Willow, we need Scoobies in full force at the Crawford Street mansion. We found the nest and it is big. Someone needs to find Spike, he was in the Restfield Cemetery about 15 minutes ago. We may not be able to wait for you, so just get here quick. Hang up. Angel: We can’t sit here while they are in there killing. And if I know Dru is here, she knows I am here too.
Inside the mansion
Dru: Oooooo…Stop Stop. Daddy is here. Stop Harmony: What are you talking about? Dru: You, you and you go get Daddy, go get Daddy and bring him in. He needs to see. Vamp 1: What? Dru: Go get Daddy, go now. Harmony: Dru, we do not have time for your little fantasizes. Dru: Get Daddy. Now. Vamp 2: Who are you talking about? Angel: She means me. Hello Dru. Dru jumps down off the hearth. Dru: Daddy, I am so glad you are here. I want you to see all the fun. I am going to rule this town. Harmony: Hey me too. We are going to rule. Both of us. Dru: Yes Yes dear. Both of us. Harmony: Darn right. Dru: Daddy come on in and look. See what is going on. Look, see what will bring you and the slayer down. Angel: Dru, I won’t let this happen. You know I will stop you. Dru: Too late Daddy, too late. You can’t take us all. Get him. Two vampires lung at Angel. He knocks them both across the room. More come at him. He fights them off but is eventually subdued. Dru: There, there. Now where is the little woman. She can’t be far behind if Daddy is here.
Outside the mansion Willow, Xander, and Tara join Buffy. Buffy: Tara? Willow: Dawn called her to pick up her stuff she took. Buffy: Anya with Dawn? Willow: No Dawn is watching Conner. Tara put up the barrier. Anya is looking for Spike. Buffy: Oh okay. Angel went in to try and stall. Please let him be okay. Willow: You would know if he wasn’t Buffy: True. Spike and Anya arrive. Buffy: Okay, we have vampires under the leadership of Dru and Harmony. They appear to be trying to amass an army of sorts. We need to set them up and knock them down. Spike: Dru and Harmony. Now that is one hell of a combination. Buffy: I know. Spike you take Tara and Willow in the garden entrance. Xander, Anya, and I will go by the front door. Lets just get the victims out and take out as many as possible along the way. Willow: Gotcha, The Scoobies get in position. Inside the mansion. Dru: Where is she? Where is the slayer? Buffy: Looking for me? Dru: Ooo goody, now we can really party. I get to kill another slayer. Spike: Ain’t going to happen love. Harmony: Spikey. Dru: Spike, why are both my boys in her web. Naughty, naughty, slayer. You can’t have both. Riley: Buffy watch out!! Buffy turns and dust a vampire leaping from behind. Dru: Ooo, looks like the slayer has three men in her web. Bring him to me. Two vampires lead a beaten Riley toward Druscilla. Dru: Looks like this one put up quite a struggle. Vampire: We found him near the slayers house. We knew he would please you. Dru: And he does. Daddy, how come your little one here has all these other men. Angel: Who wouldn’t fall in love with her? Dru: You are not jealous? Angel: No. But you sure are. Druscilla walks toward Angel and slaps him leaving claw marks across his cheek. Buffy flips and knocks Dru to the ground. Buffy: No one hurts my husband. She flicks her wrist and one, two, dusts the two vamps holding Angel. The battle begins. The human hostages escape through the doors and the vampires that Dru and Harmony have amassed are much to young and inexperienced to hold off the seasoned demon fighters. Riley even in his battered state is able to dust two vamps. Even Tara is able to dust two Harmony: Stop, stop. This is not suppose to go like this. Dru, it is ruined. Dru realizing defeat is near lunges at Buffy. Dru: I will see you die. You will die today. A vampire leaps on Riley and he is too weak to continue fighting. Angel plucks the vampire off Riley and stakes him. He turns to see Buffy battling Dru. Buffy gains the advantage and lifts her stake. Angel: No Buffy No!!! Buffy stops the thrust and whips Druscilla away from herself and toward Angel. Angel grabs Druscilla and pins her to the wall. Druscilla morphs her face to its human form. Dru: My Angel, my dear Angel. Angel looks into her brown eyes and into the face of the innocent creature he had damned for an eternity. Angel: I am sorry Dru. I am so sorry. Dru: You can’t kill me I know you can’t. Angel: But I already did. I killed you in the convent. Angel raises the stake and takes one final look into her eyes. His hand moves toward her chest, until it is caught from behind. Dru: Spiiiiikkke. Spike, my love. You won’t let Daddy hurt me. Angel turns his head toward Spike. One pair of yellow eyes glare into another pair of yellow eyes. Their hands wrapped around the stake. Spike: Together. Dru: Nooo Both her former loves drive the stake deep into her heart. She disintegrates into a pile of dust at their feet. They glance down and both release the stake and it clatters to the ground. Spike looks once more at the dust and heads toward the door. Buffy: Spike. He ignores her and walks away with his head down. Angel drops onto the hearth with his head in his hands. Harmony takes the opportunity to run out the garden door. Buffy walks up to Angel. He reaches out his hand and she takes it and he pulls her down beside him. She holds him. Willow: Uh we are going to uh go back to the house. Buffy: Okay, thanks everyone. Willow: Don’t worry about Conner. We can take care of him as long as you need tonight. Buffy: Thanks Will. Willow, Xander, Tara, and Anya leave. Riley stands watching the couple on the hearth. Buffy: You had to. Angel: I know. Angel looks into her eyes. Angel: Still want a fire? Buffy: Do you? Angel: Yes I do. Angel gets up and heads to the door to the basement and emerges moments later with an arm load of wood. He expertly starts a fire and then turns and walks toward a closet door. Inside he discovers that it still contains a supply of linens. He pulls out a large comforter and moves the broken pieces of furniture and places the blanket in front of the fire. Riley having seen enough slips out, closing the door behind him. Angel kneels before Buffy and removes her boots. As he sits down to remove his own, Buffy lies down. Buffy: Next time you think of a place to make out, find somewhere we don’t have to clear of vampires first. Angel: Well if I recall your choice was not much better. Buffy: One vampire compared to your cadre. Angel: But mine has a fireplace and a blanket. Buffy: True. Now what was it we wanted to do anyway. Angel lies down beside her. Angel: I think it had something to do with this. He kisses her. Buffy: Oh yeah I remember now. Is that all? Angel: We’ll see. He takes her into his arms and they begin kissing, first gently but soon it grows deeper and more passionate. |
